Five wild cat species inhabit the forests of West Kalimantan — from the elusive Bay Cat to the graceful Clouded Leopard. Together, they serve as vital indicators of ecosystem health, yet their survival is increasingly threatened by habitat fragmentation and human pressures.

These species include:

Bornean Bay Cat Catopuma badia
Sunda Leopard Cat Prionailurus javanensis
Flat-headed Cat Prionailurus planiceps
Marbled Cat Pardofelis marmorata
Sunda Clouded Leopard Neofelis diardi

All small cat species are threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation, hunting, and conflict with humans.
The province of West Kalimantan, in the Indonesian part of Borneo, provides key habitat for all five species. Their exact distribution, however, is not known.
